DVD-Audio:
All TACET DVD-Audios can be played on every DVD surround sound system, even if there is only a DVD video player. The speaker setting is fully compatible with standard 5.1.
Thanks to the development of surround sound format, it is now possible to listen to music from more than two speakers. Yet TACET was the first company in the world to recognise the musical potential of this new medium: suddenly the listener can comprehend complex musical scores much more easily, and the composer’s ideas for achieving a certain effect can be enacted more successfully (to name only two advantages). The aim here is therefore not “naturalness” as with the CD, but to make the composer’s intention clearer with the aid of all possible means, even “synthetic” ones: this is a fantastic challenge for the musicians and directors.

The playing time of a TACET DVD-Audio is up to five hours or more.
SACD:
All TACET SACDs can be played on every SACD player in stereo. Additionally every TACET SACD offers a CD layer, so you may listen to it on a normal CD player in stereo. And finally nearly all TACET SACDs include a surround sound version in 5.1 format.
The sound quality of SACD and DVD-Audio are equal. SACDs are compatible with normal CDs. Therefore they can not offer more than 80 minutes playing time.
Even more recent techniques such as HD and Blue-ray are used more for video and are therefore not relevant for TACET products.
TACET has produced some of the most convincing multichannel productions in the field of classical music." For this reason TACET has been awarded the 2002 honorary prize of the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" (Prize of German Record Critics).
