Un cran en dessous des 6 partitas pour violon seul, pas tout à fait des œuvres qu’on emmène sur une île déserte, mais elles n’en sont pas moins d'un haut niveau artistique. Les mouvements lents explorent toute une palette d’émotions : désolation, solitude, mais aussi des humeurs plus expansives et festives. De leur côté, les mouvements rapides mêlent musique instrumentale très spirituelle et maîtrise contrapuntique.
